The Mission of the Experiment

The Expirement is just as the name suggests: an experiment, something new, something different. It is an attempt to approach worship and outreach together in a new way. We have no desire to be a replacement to church, but to show those uninterested in church what our hearts are really about. The experiment is to create a new, creative, welcoming environment to draw in Christians and everyone else alike.

A recent study revealed that 44% of people will have left the church by the age of 23 because they saw nothing in the church to drawl them in. They test-drove the church as teens and found that when the decision was theirs, they were not interested. So when the traditional church model becomes a point of discouragement, the body of believers need to reach out in a new way. We are part of local churches, but we're experimenting with new ways once a month to reach out to the world around us, to encourage and build up the believers around us, and to honor the God we're commited to serving.

We want to let music be an expression, not a concert. We want it to be a tool to express our passion in our faith. We want to let it be a tool to allow people to connect with each other. Not in simply singing together, but interacting with each other in a common interest. We want music to convey the message of our hearts. We want videos to convery the message. We want the entire theme of a session to convey the message. We want to close not with a sermon, but with the point of the message that's been conveyed through the entire evening.

We make no assumption that something like the Experiment hasn't been tried elsewhere. In fact we hope that it has, because that means the church isn't becoming the stereotype the world now expects, but being faithful to the call of our own beliefs.
